San Francisco Sailing Charters Are A Bucket List Item!

Sailing is an unbelieveable experience. For those that have never tried it, especially trying a sailing charter in the San Francisco Bay area, you're really missing out! You only live once, as the saying goes, and we highly suggest you at least try it once. Chances are though that once you sail the San Francisco Bay you'll want to do it again... and again!

Rendezvous Charters offers sailing charters to the San Francisco Bay area. The unexperienced may not not exactly what a charter is, but basically it's when you rent a sailboat or motorboat for a period of time. This is typically done with a crew, especially in the case of a sailing vessel, perhaps a bit less so with motoryachts. There's also something called a bareboat charter which is when you lease a vessel without a master and crew. In this case you have to provide your own personnel for the voyage (this is also called a dry lease).

Our San Fran sailing charters are typically manned by our own crew, although we do offer bareboat charters at Spinnaker Sailing. Our charters usually involve seeing the amazing wildlife around the San Francisco bay such as sea lions, water fowl and dolphins. During some trips, dolphins will play in the wake of the sailboat or yacht.

Of course the scenery is what really sets apart the experience of a San Francisco sailboat charter from anywhere else in the world. There's the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge which is a beauty that you have to behold personally. Sailing under it you hear echoes and out past the Golden Gate Bridge you can experience the wide ocean. Depending on conditions you may or may not get to sail out there.

Other sights include the once prison island of Alcatraz. Cruising by it you just can't help but think of the history of the place. The name alone evokes feelings of dread that make you never want to commit a crime. Al Capone even spent time there and there are many great stories of escape attempts by prisoners who may have swam in the very water that you're sailing in. Urban legend has it that sharks ate prisoners that tried to swim to freedom, but the sharks around Alcatraz are mainly leopard sharks, not of the size to be man-eaters - sharks larger than 4 to 5 feet are not typically seen in the bay∂. More likely the prisoners were sucked in by an undertow or simply couldn't swim the distance and drowned. Then again there are many who have made the swim from Alcatraz.

There's also Angel Island, which is a an island located smack in the middle of the San Francisco Bay and features a 740-acre State Park. It's a gorgeous, mountainous area where you can have a barbecue with your friends, family and/or co-workers. We can help you organize team-building activities or family celebrations. You can also go hiking, play volleyball, rent a bike and go riding or even go swimming (although the water in the Bay is typically not that warm). This is a perfect companion to a San Francisco sailing charter!

As you can see there's a lot to experience out in the Bay! Pictures don't do it justice, not even video does. You've got to get out here and experience it with all the senses. We hope that you do and if you have any questions about San Francisco sailboat charters whatsoever, please let us know! Lastly, thanks for taking the time to stop by and read this and may the wind be always at your back!
